An East Bay man was arrested on allegations he broke into a Sausalito home and tried on a resident’s clothing.
A Bulkley Avenue resident and her children came home Friday afternoon to find the man sampling clothes in the master bedroom, said Sausalito police Lt. Brian Mather. The residents fled, and the woman called her husband.
The husband called police, who surrounded the home but could not find the intruder. A short time later, a parking officer saw a man matching the intruder’s description on Second Street.
Police detained Daniel Lewis Clark, 34, of Oakland. He was carrying suspected burglary tools, a dirk or dagger and allegedly stolen mail, checks and credit cards, Mather said.
Police also suspect Clark is the man a witness saw trying to break into a residence on South Street earlier that day. Investigators are reviewing whether he can be linked to other recent crimes, Mather said.
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed a felony residential burglary count on Monday. Clark remained in custody at the Marin County Jail on Tuesday in lieu of $50,000 bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.
