Former Child Actor Zachery Ty Bryan Hit With Felony Charge After DUI Arrest

Former Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has been charged with a felony after his recent DUI arrest.

TMZ reported that the actor has been charged with driving under the influence with three or more priors within the last 10 years. This is the latest arrest in a string of legal woes the actor has been facing.

A previous report from TMZ notes that the actor had been stopped by police Feb. 17 on suspicion of his involvement in a car accident. Police noted that he showed “signs of impairment” and found his blood alcohol level to be at 0.15, which the outlet notes is almost twice the legal limit of 0.08.

According to the felony complaint, Bryan reportedly refused to take a sobriety test during the arrest.

The filing also notes that he had been involved in a collision earlier that evening, but he allegedly did not stop to provide his information after the accident.

Bryan’s court date is now scheduled for April 23. He faces up to three years in prison if convicted.

This news comes after the actor pled guilty to felony assault last fall after a domestic dispute with an unidentified woman who is believed to be his longtime partner, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. The couple share three children.

He was sentenced to seven days in jail and 36 months of supervised probation. He was also ordered to not have contact with the victim without approval from a probation officer.

The sentencing also ordered that he undergo substance abuse treatment and refrain from using drugs or alcohol.

“Mr. Bryan decided to accept this resolution and admit that he recklessly caused physical injury to his domestic partner to avoid further trauma to his family so they could move on and heal,” Bryan’s attorney said at the time, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Bryan and Cartwright had a previous domestic dispute in October 2020, after which he pled guilty to misdemeanor menacing and assault.
